ModelDesk was built from the conviction that data modeling deserves better tooling. Designed with deep knowledge of UML and RDF, and with the daily practice of data modelers and ontologists as the starting point.
Mission & background
ModelDesk is a browser-based data modeling platform for data modelers and ontologists. It provides native support for UML, ER, RDFS/OWL/SHACL, XSD, JSON Schema, and the Dutch MIM standard, with automated transformation between standards, built-in version control, and standards-conformant validation.
Data modelers and ontologists working with UML, RDF, and related standards often rely on a patchwork of desktop tools, manual translation steps, and scattered documentation. ModelDesk brings the entire trajectory — from conceptual model to technical schema — together in one web environment. Built by domain specialists who have worked with these standards for years, and designed around the workflows that matter most: importing, modeling, transforming, validating, and publishing. ModelDesk lets you model with the standards that fit your way of working, whether that is a personal choice, an organizational decision, or a convention in your field.
